PostSubject: Just a Dog   Mon Jun 05, 2017 11:44 am

Goes for a cat also..

From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a dog,"
or that's a lot of money for "just a dog."

They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for just a dog."

Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog."
Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog,"
but I did not once feel slighted.

Some of my saddest moments have been spent with "just a dog,"
and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog"
gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.

If you, too, think it's "just a dog," then you will probably understand
phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise" or "just a promise."

"Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship,
trust, and pure unbridled joy.
"Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that
make me a better person. Because of "just a dog" I will rise
early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.

So for me and the folks like me, it's not "just a dog" but an
embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the
fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.

"Just a dog" brings out what's good in me and diverts my
thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.

I hope that someday they can understand that it's
not "just a dog" but the thing that gives me humanity and
keeps me from being "just a person."

Thanks for posting that Eilene.

But he's "just a cat".

NOT TO ME!!!!

My dogs are part of my family also and there is nothing I would do to help them including taking out a loan if they needed vet care.Which we have done..

Some people do not understand how much they really mean to me and my husband..They give us such joy and make us laugh

Most people I know who have cats or dogs consider them parts of the family. My parent's dog, a golden retriever, goes everywhere with my dad.

I've been thinking about getting a dog when Tux's time finally comes.  Now that I'm home all day I don't need a fenced-in backyard because I could take the dog out whenever he/she needs to go.

I'm thinking about a pug.  I want a dog that's more or less Loosie's size and of all the small dogs I've always thought pugs were cool.  It's the one "little" dog that doesn't seem like a "foo foo dog" to me.

I've never liked little dogs either. They are usually the most annoying ones. Pugs are one of the few that I don't mind. I know they can have some health issues, but I'm sure they just need to be taking care of properly.

I seem to remember something about heart issues. Do you know anything about that?

If I get one it will be a rescue. There are several pug rescue groups around here.

I know pugs are prone to skin issues (because of the wrinkles) and congestion issues (because of the "smushed-in nose").  But I still think I want one.  I need to talk to my vet and see what she thinks.

Just by sheer chance I saw a guy walking a pug in front of my house today.  I was bringing Tux back from the vet from another dose of fluids so I didn't have a chance to talk to the guy but if I see him again I'm going to ask about his experience with his dog.

I know people who have had them. The people I know who have had them have really liked them. Breathing is an issue for almost all short nosed dogs.
