Iīve been doing journalism for years and journalistic photographing.

This january I started a new path and started studies to take the photographing to a new and more professional level. Studies started with a studio-photographing which is a totally new thing for me.

Itīs been a challenge.

Ouch!

Looking at that pic makes me cringe. I assume that's the desired effect.

I love photography. I only wish I was better at it.

I know OBF. I love photographing, but I know my limitations. Thatīs the reason I started to study it and to be fully professional.

I have a cousin who was a professional photographer one of 50 in her entire state.

I like the pic with the kitana, was it an actual blade or was it blunted?

Right now the only creative thing I am doing is working on a manuscript for a novel, been working on it for a few months now prob will be a while before i have anything right now im just writing notes and snippets of scenes

My goal is to have a draft done by next year

This is blunted katana, a practise model. But we took some photos with my sharp one also. I didnīt want to put her to lick sharp one. She would have lost her tongue.

I love the estetics of japanese blade. This photo has a good feeling, but it is only a practise version, techically not very good actually. I have ones where there is more darker tone and more playing with the spotted light.

I know what a katana is. It's like a Japanese samurai sword, right?

Essentially yes, a weapon dominatly with the Samurai, Ninjas used a similar design but the hilt was more squared than rounded and the blade was straight those were generally called Ninjato

Addy is right. Katana is a two-hand sword used in the time when samurai-class was alive in feudal Japan. Samurai actually carried two swords all the time. Primary weapon was the long sword Katana and the secondary weapon was short sword Wakizashi.

This was the case when we talk about infantry samurais. Horse riding soldiers used long bows and spears.

I have hand made and sharp Katana. It is the most beautiful weapon I know. It is also the sharpest and deadliest blade I know. Hand made Katana is made in a very complex techique and of multiple layers of steel. Each hand made blade is individual and there isnīt other similar. My Katanas hilt is made of the leather of ray.

I have studied and practised Japanese martial arts about 16 years. I teach aikido, but I have studied also japanese jujitsu and traditional japanese samurai-based fighting arts (Koryu budo) where the sword fighting is essential. Of course you donīt need those sword techniques in modern society, but I have studied them to gain cultural and mental understanding of samurai culture.

I think I need to take more photos of swords tomorrow in my next studio-session.

hehe is it a Hanzo sword? I laugh but then I learned there really was a man named Hatori Hanzo who lived in the 1500s

Sometimes they would use the Wakizashi to commit Seppuku which is ritual suicide but I dont remember if the dagger like weapon was called a tanto or if it had another name im sure it had another name.

Ive always wanted to learn Aikido, well that and Ed Parker Kenpo

LOL!

I also thought that Hattori Hanzo was fictional character, until my former jujitsu sensei (who is Japanese) told me that Hattori Hanzo was a famous ninja.

I donīt actually know who made my Katana. It is made in Japan and I have the certificate that it is hand made.

The dagger is called Tanto.

Little bit more of studio work. There is a rough edge also in beauty.

I'd like to get more seriously into it, more as a personal interest.
