That's probably all you'll like from it.

No lie, I took Loosie to the vet today to get her eye looked at and before I left I was thinking "What band could I listen to that I haven't posted before/lately."  For some reason I thought of this band:

I think this is another "alternative" band that I was introduced to when I was doing data entry on the graveyard shift and listening to the Vanderbilt college radio station.  I have a long list of such bands and should actually put a comp of them together except a bunch are probably only on vinyl and I have no way to play my vinyl right now.

EDIT: I checked and this album was released in 1987 so that fits the timeline I remember.  Man, I discovered SOOO many bands during that period.

That is actually a very catchy song.

I have Broken Teeth on my AC/DC clones comp.  They're not exactly clones but there's definitely an influence.

Speaking of AC/DC clones, remember the Spanish band '77?  Have you heard their new one?  Now they're Black Sabbath clones.

Eyesore over at HoM says he doesn't think that sounds like Sabbath or even Ozzy.  What???  C'mon.

Made a run to my favorite beer store today and was spinning my Tony Carey comp.  This one came up:

I also heard some of his more well known songs like "Why Me?" (as Planet P) and "It's A Fine Fine Day" but I've always had a soft spot for this particular song for some reason so I was grinning when it came up on "random play" on the 200+ comp I created.

The chorus is somewhat catchy, but it's just something I can't get into.

Yeah, I can't explain it either. If I step back and objectively analyze it, the song is pretty "meh". But for some reason it's one of those songs that just "clicks" with me, ya know?

I dug another one out of the archives.  Have I ever posted The Rainmakers before?

Funny, after this video finished playing Youtube loaded Copperhead Road next. I guess they're sort of similar but not really.

That's a lot more catchy than the previous one. I actually like it.

Another one from my years in Tennessee.  Both the local rock station and the Vanderbilt college station played the crap outta this one and I don't think I ever posted it before:

That's pretty good. It reminds me of something, but I just can't put my finger on it.

This is a little lighter and more melodic than my usual fare, but I think it's pretty good.

That's not terrible but it's pretty boring IMO.  Nothing really bad about it, good vocals but the music just sort of lays there.  In other words pretty typical AOR to my ears.

Which is why it's not my usual; I usually don't like AOR at all.

Not bad. I think I still prefer the original.

At least that's interesting.  It's a reworking; I'm not sure it totally works but it's interesting.

I don't think The Poodles will ever top this one:

I just posted a rant over at HoM about The Gothic Turd.  There's a thread about "biggest disappointments" in albums and the first one I thought of was Boston's "Don't Look Back" compared to the S/T.

About 2 pages later someone posted that Therion's "Sitra Ahra" was so disappointing after the "classic" Gothic Kabbalah.  That set me off.  Not on the poster but on that album.  How could I forget that awful turd of an album after the wonderful Lemuria/Sirius B set????

To this day that may be my most disappointing album of all time.  I STILL absolutely HATE that album.  I actually thought Sitra was an improvement.

Gothic Kabbalah was definitely a HUGE disappointment after Lemuria/Sirius B, which is still one of my all-time favorites. I have grown to like a few songs off of it, but considering the amount of songs on it, that's not saying much.

I´ve been again in a very strong Kate Busn mood.

This song strikes me always. It's released 1989 but the meaning of the lyrics is more relevant today than ever.

Wow.  I was watching The Five on Fox News and on the bump out from a segment they played a snippet from this 1982 song.  I have this on vinyl and it looks like it's never been released on CD.  When it started playing I started singing along right away and I haven't heard of or thought about this song in at least 30 years.

Yeah it's got the cheesy 80s keyboards but that melody is just so insanely catchy to me.

You can pinpoint the early 80's chest from the sound.

Now I've got to go clean the cheese out of my ears…

Wow what is that?  That's all over the place.  Therion-ish vocals to start, then some cowbell, then an Ozzy impersonator then growling.  Pick a style already.

I was listening to my Best Of The Alarm comp (which also includes lead singer Mike Peters' solo stuff) and this Mike Peters song came up:

I like where he goes "A hunka hunka"

I was thinking the same thing! I even heard something that sounded like one of the instrumentals from Maiden's Powerslave album.
