Which other one "Effervescent/True North" or "Grace"?

The True North one. It could be because that clip features "you know who"

Isn't that the woman who replace Tarja in Nightwish?

Nevermind, it's not. But I know that name from somewhere. Now I need to figure out where.

Found it. Anneke van Giersbergen was the lead singer for The Gathering. I knew I recognized that name and associated it to music I don't like. Laughing

I like her vocals in there. I don't think they are too over-the-top.

Her vocals are OK in The Gathering too but the music is really dull IMO.

Wow, that really is all over the genre map. Good for you. I need to start doing that again; I've been too bogged down in some of my personal artist comps lately.

This is a pretty good album. The lyrics and music are uplifting.

I like the vocals but the music is a little too "AOR" for me.  I think the singer has a good voice; I like that it's in the lower register.  But the music just sounds too slick and 80s to me.

That's odd because I dislike almost all AOR. I found it more retro/classic rock sounding.

Where's the "oomph"?  The guitars are mostly relegated to the back of the mix and just playing simple power chords.  I think that's what I found annoying.  Do you know if this is a "Christian" band?  That's what it reminds me of; the 80s when Christian labels tried to make the concept of "Christian rock" more "church-friendly" by downplaying the hard rock guitars. It could also be the band just trying to be more "radio friendly"; latter day America albums did the same thing.

I don't believe they are Christian band. They are from England and fronted by Thin Lizzy keyboard player Darren Wharton. They've been around since 1985 and have 9 albums. This is what I found on them.

This UK melodic rock quintet was formed in 1987 by ex-Thin Lizzy keyboard player Darren Wharton. The band’s name was derived from Wharton’s christian name, a suggestion made by Lemmy of Motörhead. Relocating to Manchester after Lizzy’s demise, it took Wharton six months to find musicians on his own wavelength. He eventually teamed up with Vinny Burns (guitar), Shelley (bass), James Ross (drums) and Brian Cox (keyboards), taking on vocals and additional keyboards himself. They debuted with Out Of The Silence in 1988, a grandiose, keyboard-dominated album, reminiscent of Giuffria, Journey and House Of Lords. The follow-up, Blood From Stone, released three years later, adopted an approach rooted in hard rock structures, and featured up-front guitar along with improved vocals from Wharton. Tipped to make a significant impact on the international rock scene, harsh reality intervened as the band became another fixture on ‘might have been’ lists. Wharton, still playing as Dare, gigs regularly in north Wales and north-west England.

Ghost In The Tanglewood - Ginger

Yep, another new one. He calls this one "country" but it really sounds more like folk rock to me.
