I've never heard that one before.

It's from an EP that came out between Pretty Hate Machine and Downward Spiral. I wish Reznor would have kept up with this style instead of going into the angsty, whiny stuff from Downward Spiral on.

I've been listening to The Tragically Hip today. I don't think I've shared them before. I loved them back in the early to mid 90s. The singer (Gord Downie) passed away yesterday from a brain tumor at 53.

I'm not sure what you'll think of them, but here are some of my favorites. Gord Downie had an unusual sounds and he wrote some great lyrics.

New Orleans is Sinking

Blow at High Dough

Boots or Hearts

Little Bones

Locked in the Trunk of a Car

Nautical Disaster

I actually have something by them but I can't remember what or why I bought it.

OK, I just went downstairs and checked The Vault. The album I have is "Fully Completely" but looking at the song titles I still don't remember why I bought it.

My favorite is "Up to Here".

I have that album and several others by Skyclad. I'm still not sure what I think of them. When I like a song by them I really like it but there seems to be a lot of filler on most of their albums.

Went back to my new family doctor today for a followup on how my blood pressure is doing (he doubled the strength of my medicine so that should tell you the result; I did lose almost 10 lbs since my last visit tho).

Anyway. on my way there I popped in a flash drive that I had sent to exact33 (remember him?). He wanted a bunch of classic stuff I have and when he sent it back he put some stuff on it he didn't think I had. One of them was Brainstorm's "Liquid Monster".

Of course I already had it but I hadn't listened to it in a long time so I selected that for my trip. Damn! That still is one fine album! It manages to be really heavy yet melodic at the same time.

Great stuff!

I remember exact. How's he doing?

That Brainstorm album is a good one. I think Liquid Monster is the best song on there.

Exact is doing well now as far as I know but for the past year he had a run-in with some kind of cancer. He disappeared from all boards for almost a year then suddenly resurfaced on HoM saying he'd been dealing with cancer. I didn't ask any questions; it doesn't really matter what kind it was because all cancer sucks.

I just heard that George Young died.

He's most noted for producing AC/DC albums by his younger brothers but I mostly remember him as the lead vocalist the late 70s new wave band Flash N The Pan. I still listen to them from time to time because they're just so different.

During my freshman year in college, other people on the floor used to get upset with me because I would blast this song constantly:

I remember him dealing with that. Cancer certainly does suck!

That's OK but I could do without the keyboards. That's also not what I thought it would sound like. I was expecting something more along the lines of Ghoultown.

I don't think I've heard anything that sounds like Ghoultown.

Bought my first beer in over a month today.  For the trip I selected a Southern Rock comp I created a while back.  This Skynyrd track came up.  Evan as overplayed as Skynyrd is on classic radio I bet you never heard this one:

I love this song.

I haven't heard it before, but it's pretty good. I'm so sick of hearing their "classic" stuff.

Yeah me too actually. I ripped all their "classic" stuff in the comp but other than "Workin' For MCA" and "Ballad Of Curtis Lowe" I find myself hitting the forward button when anything else comes up during "random" playback.

Plugged my industrial comp back in during my run to the store today and this one came up. I'd totally forgotten about this band until someone at HoM mentioned getting this album so I promptly added it to my comp. I like this song but I'm not really sure why; it's pretty simple, doesn't have a lot of melody and is full of synth squeaks and skronks but I still like it.

It says "This video is not available." Do you have a different link?

There's probably one on YouTube but don't bother; I actually don't think you'd like it anyway. Like I said above, I'm actually not sure why I like it but I do. I've got quite a few bands/songs like that when it comes to industrial music.

I have lots of stuff I'm pretty sure you'd hate.

Laughing

Here's a challenge for you; find something I don't know about that I would like. I need something new and refreshing to listen to.

I assume since you're from Canada you're already familiar with The Tea Party?

I'd say try just about anything by Diamond Dogs. They are so all over the genre map you're bound to find something you like. That's why they're my favorite band; they just don't get boring. Especially if you throw in the Sulo solo projects and his current band The Crunch.

How about this one? Satyrian. It's all over the map but features a lot of elements you seem to like in music.

There's this one which has an industrial feel to it:

But there's also this track which sounds like Blackmore's Night:

And there's also this one which is more straightforward female-fronted power metal:

The Tea Party are one of those bands I SHOULD like, but just can't seem to get into. I'm not sure what it is.

I'll try some Diamond Dogs. What do you recommend?

The first and second videos are the same song. Other than that, I like the songs. I think I'll go find some more to listen to.
