That Cleveland/Houston game I was watching is still going on.  I just flipped back there and it's now in the 16th inning.

EDIT: I see the Jays tied it up too

I see Houston won in 16, 5-3.

I also see the Jays and Giants are still going at it.

MLB Network showed the Jays/Giants finish.

That's just brutal. Toronto fights back to tie the game only to lose on a walk-off bases loaded walk. Ugh.

Here's the article about Bartolo Colon I was referring to.  I looked it up and apparently he was suspended while he was with the A's.

I did not know that. I also didn't know that he played for the A's.

Yep. Bring a guy into hit a guy, give up a bunt single, walk guy, and then walk another guy. Unsurprisingly, he got sent down after the game. In reality, the Jays offense lost this game. They had MANY chances with runners on base and just blew it.

That was quite the game by Scherzer last night.

Jays fans are REALLY regretting trading this guy (and catcher Travis D'arnaud) for Dickey. Dickey has been solid, but unspectacular, but we gave up way too much.

Syndergaard was one of the "Lugnuts Three", three great pitching prospects on the Jays' A affiliate. The other two were Aaron Sanchez, who is in the Jays rotation and doing excellent, and Justin Nicolino, who was traded to the Marlins.

And so has Sanchez with the Jays, their stats are pretty similar, but it still stings a bit.

This is pretty cool. Because of how the rotation sets up the next few days, Stroman gets to go to Duke University for his graduation.

I wish he'd have pitched that way against the Cubs. He got bombed for 7 runs against them.

Interesting take on the DH rule. It doesn't really suggest one is better than the other, but the write up makes a good point.

MLB Central is talking to Ken Rosenthal and they just showed a picture of him standing next to Shaquille Oneal at the Emmys. The top of Ken's head is at Shaq's chest.

Yeah, I don't think Rosenthal is very tall to begin with. Standing beside a giant only makes it look worse.

Now they're talking to Rex Hudler. He played for 7 teams over 10 years in the majors (the Cards were one of them; he was known as "Hurricane Hudler" here). Over his career he played for Yogi Berra, Billy Martin, Whitey Herzog, Joe Torre, Terry Francona. He said he's lived in every time zone and he's proud of being a "10 and 10 guy"; 10 years in the minors and 10 years in the majors.

Pretty interesting character. He's now a broadcaster for the Royals and he's showing the World Series ring from last season. What a piece of bling that thing is!

Another reason why I love baseball.  Yeah it's the Red Sox but let's face it, what other sport goes to these lengths?

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/david-ortiz-meets-maverick--the-young-fan-he-promised-a-home-run-004321312.html

You know what? I don't like the Red Sox; I think they try to buy pennants. But Ortiz seems to be a genuinely good guy.

Man, I'm watching the first couple innings of the Cardinals game in Anaheim and there looks to be about 100 people in the stands. I need to google the Angels attendance numbers.

That's a great story. I love to read about things like that.

I see it was a bit of a slugfest last night. It blows my mind that the Cardinals lead the NL in offense and the Jays lead the AL in starting pitching ERA. On paper it should be the other way around.

Yeah, three more homers last night. But boy, Wainwright continues to struggle.

This is interesting.

Tonight the Cardinals play the Dodgers and the starting pitchers are Michael Wacha for STL and Ross Stripling for LA. They were college roommates.

Cool. That probably happens more often than we think.

The Jays faced Stripling last week. As is the norm lately, they made him look like an ace.

I just saw this feature on MLB Central. Even though it's about the Red Sox I bet your eyes will well up a bit:

Completely awesome. I love stories like that. It doesn't matter that it's the Red Sox, these things transcend the game. I have always had respect for Ortiz, despite the fact he destroys the Jays.

I like the kid windmilling his arm before throwing the first pitch.  You can hear the Fenway crowd chuckling.

I've always respected Ortiz too.  He seems like a genuinely nice man.  Plus MLB Central has a puppet of him.  It was hilarious when Big Papi the player came on to confront Big Papi the puppet.
