I have the coolest English teacher. He is a very well spoken man, very patient and kind to us students. He even has a cool sense of humor. If you think this is what makes him cool then just listen up. He is the lead singer in an alternative rock band. Him and his band are playing this Saturday, so a bunch of us students are going to watch him perform. I'm not usually one for this style, but it's kinda cool. Check 'em out. The band is Mistaken for Strangers.

What non-metal, non hard rock albums would you consider to be true masterpieces? Not any of this 'almost perfect' album stuff. It has to only be a perfect 10/10 album! Okay? Which ones for you?

For me INPO:

Erasure - Chorus

Depeche Mode - Violator

The Cure - Wish

The Cure - Disintegration

The Sisters of Mercy - Floodland

KMFDM - Money

Ministry - The Land of Rape and Honey

Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine

Book of Love - Candy Carol

Switchblade Symphony - ...

I'm sure Lion knows about this synthpop act since they are from his neck of the woods in San Diego.

I LOVE this band. They took the mid-era Depeche Mode sound (ala Some Great Reward and Black Celebration) and capitalized on it. Each album has a bit of a sound like this. At least out of the albums I've got (which is sadly only two at this point).

Anyway ... let's talk about Red Flag.

Here's some samps to check out:

Well, I just decided to snag the "Greatest Hits" Journey album when I was at Target today. I need to get into this band, after all I love all the songs I've ever heard from them.

Who's a fan? Let's talk about Journey!

I know some people consider them to be hard rock, but overall to me - Journey is just a good rock band. A lot like Petra or REO Speedwagon would be.

Aerosmith Says Steven Tyler Has Quit

By Dave Itzkoff

The sweet emotions that the members of Aerosmith once felt towards each other have apparently come to an end. In an interview with The Las Vegas Sun, the group’s lead guitarist, Joe Perry, said that the singer Steven Tyler ...

CROWDED HOUSE - WOODHOUSE (1991)

My favorite from these Aussies, and one of my fave pop albums of all time. Great album to sit home and listen to on a dreary day. That's how it was when I first started listening to this back in '91. This is a unique CH album in that both of the Finn brothers are involved...it was the first time since their Split Enz days. The lyrics are very witty, humorous at times. The harmonies from the Finn brothers are just beautiful.
